Digital Music (Composition, Recording, Software)

We are proud to introduce Digital Music lessons to Snider School of Music.  This is a unique program taught by Snider’s own, Charlie Finlay.  Charlie has an extensive background in digital recording, composition and sound editing.  Charlie’s recording and sound editing credits are numerous to say the least!  Check out Charlie’s IMDB page here. Our Digital Music lessons are divided into 4 main categories:

  • Songwriting / Song Producing

  • Recording

  • Making Beats (Hip Hop Beats, DJ’ing, House Music)

  • Composition (using notation software) for Film/TV

A student can focus on one of these areas or explore everything  Charlie has to offer! The lessons are customized to the goals of each student, whether it be for creating their own songs, writing, recording, mixing and releasing their own album, or learning to use software music tools like Logic, Pro Tools, Ableton Live and Garageband.  The lesson plan can be structured in format or can be done by answering students’ specific questions lesson by lesson.

It is recommended that students have a computer at home to work on their projects. Assistance with choosing a computer, audio interface, and any other equipment is offered as part of the lessons.
